One of my favorite quotes is” Not all who wander are lost!” by J. R. R. Tolkien, the author of The Lord of the Rings. Whenever I get chance, I go off and wander my city, wherever I am living. Sometimes I like to go with my kids or friends, but sometimes I like to go by myself so I can take my time without anybody rushing me. If I want to stand there and gaze for five minutes at the architecture of the building and wonder how the architect come up with the design then I am free to do so. Sometimes we get so busy with life that we do not even take time to enjoy or marvel at what’s around us. When I first moved here to Rhode Island and one of my friends took my kids and I for a tour of Providence, I was in awe of the city, the history, and the architecture. When I told my friend how I love all all the historical buildings, she laughed and said that she hardly noticed anymore since she has lived here so long. I was shocked but then her comment reminded me how we get so busy with life that we don’t stop to enjoy the city we live in as much as we should. Sometimes, we just need to stop, look, learn, and enjoy the beauty in front of us! Remember friends : Life is filled with so many exciting twists and turns. Hop off the straight and narrow whenever you can and take the winding paths. Experience the exhilaration of the view from the edge. Because the moments spent there, that take your breath away, are what make you feel truly alive. — Stacey Charter
My daughter and son always stop and look back to make sure I’m not lost because I have the tendency to be so absorb in my surroundings that I forget to keep up with them!
